Cacophony in Ecosystem – Climate Change  2025

Climate change is reshaping our world in a whole aspect.

The impacts of climate change include the long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. The concerning effects are primarily driven by human activities since the 1800s.

The continuously changing rainfall patterns, weather delays, and temperature increases are various impacts of climate alteration. The blooming of flowers and crop growing patterns now seem very different as environmental conditions aren’t the same.  This global emergency is alarming as it is affecting our daily lives on a large scale.

Causes of climate change

The causes of climate change include the emissions from machines, factories, and industries. Such emissions blanket the earth and trap the heat of the Sun. This leads to considerate increase in the earth’s temperature. It ultimately leads to a change in the climate.
The global emissions are mainly caused in the process of generating electricity and heat by burning fossil fuels. Only about a quarter of the energies come from renewable sources.
The industrial practices of generating electricity from burning fuels seem very small but harm the globe on a large scale.

Impacts of climate change

Rising global temperature and changes in the climate have severe ramifications, extending far beyond the changes in the environment.

  • Edibles on the verge of extinction

Numerous scientific studies have highlighted the alarming disappearance of certain foods due to climate change. The foods currently threatened to go extinct are coffee, chocolate, avocados, bananas and maple syrup, which need specific climatic conditions to grow. These changes are affecting the oceans as well as availability of seafood.

  • Animals on thin ice
The Arctic zone is now warming about twice as fast as the global average. It is causing the ice melt away, on which the polar bears depend upon. Loss of sea ice also threatens Their main prey are seals, but loss of sea ice threatens their life. As seals need ice to raise their young ones.

 Initiatives to combat Climate Change

  • Eyes on Ice:
University of Alaska Fairbanks is leading the Fresh Eyes on Ice initiative. The support from NASA’s Citizen Science for Earth Systems Program took the project to a whole new level, as it facilitated partnerships with world-level programs. This project expands app-based ice condition photo observation to enhance the river ice safety and flood forecasting. By Understanding the impacts of climate change is crucial, particularly regarding its effects on ice conditions. By focusing on these aspects, we can better comprehend climate change’s profound implications on our planet.

As the climate rapidly changes, we need to have precise weather data to get accurate predictions. This can be achieved with the help of animals equipped with sensors. They can collect the weather information as they go about life. Further we can in turn learn how to save ourselves from a dramatically changing climate.
