Mind and Its Functionality

Mind is a tedious entity, which is very difficult to perceive. As it is invisible and not considered to be material aspect, so the realization of it’s functionality is of prime importance. Mental components and their main purposes can be divided into 2 parts i.e. the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.

Conscious Mind

The 4 sections of our conscious mind make up about 5% of our whole mind.

  • Logical
  • Investigative
  • Resoluteness
  • Limited memory

The conscious mind is in charge of reasoning, analysis, planning, and short-term memory. Being able to justify our behaviour keeps us sane. In daily life, we require order and structure. The analytical mind is able to identify issues and uses our short-term memory and willpower to solve them. Since these are merely transient, the conscious mind is unable to undergo true internal change.

Sub-conscious mind

The subconscious mind, which makes up around 95% of our minds, is the source of the change. Now let’ see what’s in the subconscious mind are?

  • Personal memory
  • Sensation
  • Affection
  • Convention
  • Conduct
  • Expressiveness
  • Fascination
  • Intuitiveness
  • Optimism

The stronger portions of the mind are the above 9 points . Every bit of information that is received is stored in the long-term memory, which also links it to beliefs, feelings, and emotions. Our history makes us who we are. Our long-term memory and the emotions that go along with it influence the way we think, see, and act. For hypnotherapy to truly alter a client’s behaviour, habits, emotions, or beliefs, this area of the brain must be used. The client is linked to the issues through hypnotherapy, which also provides a remedy—a modification of the subconscious mind.

The subconscious part of the brain contains the autonomic nervous system, which is in charge of our body’s natural functions like breathing, eating, heart rate, and blood flow. This is where our imagination, creativity, and worldview are stored, and hypnosis employs these to change us. This area of the brain stores beliefs, thus by hypnotically accessing it, we can change our behaviour and get the desired result. Over time, our body will respond as well if we truly believe in the transformation.
